A bold step towards imrovement in Election Process

It is matter of debate since long in India and also a public Interest Litigation (PIL) is also pending in the Supreme Court that the voters should be given an option to click on the voting machine 'None of the above (NOTA)' if there is no suitable candidate in the election process and now Shri Narendar Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat has initiated the process by introducing the 1) compulsory voting by all the voters and, 2) option for voters to reject the vote if no suitable candidate is in the fray. Indeed it is a bold step and Narendar Modi has showed a way towards the imrpovement in the election process in India. Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav, Ex. Railway Minister has also recommended it as a right step. The states having BJP rule may follow the same in their respective states as has been done in Gujarat. This editorial published in 'The Punjab Kesari' on 23.12.2009. Good job.

Exam for the examiners

The qualification, expertise and experience which essentially required for getting a job may get thinner with the passing of time, which recently was proved by the Bihar Govt. In the current news item, Bihar Govt. has conducted an examination for teachers to decide their promotions and increment cases and all the teachers appeared for the test. Surprisingly, 24% of them could not qualify the test and even could not mark their roll numbers properly on the answer sheets. Few teachers absented themselves to avoid the test and few were involved in unfair activities. Only 59% of more than one lac teachers could qualify the test to get the annual increment. It was really a shameful situation that the teachers are not updated with the latest developments in their sector, and question arises how they could prepare the future young generation. Though State Govt. has decided to give them one more chance to appear for the exam to decide their promotion and annual increment cases but the opposition political party as well as these teachers has opposed the concept of conducting the test to test their knowledge. It was indeed a great revolutionary step of the State Govt. which also gives birth to an idea that why each department in the Govt. sector should not conduct such activities to test the knowledge, integrity and experience of their employees which will also encourage the employees to keep themselves updated with the changing times. Congratulations. Keep it up….

Life will not end on earth in 2012

With the making of film 2012 and also its wide publicity on media before its release, it has derived a fanciful phobia of destruction of earth by December 21, 2012. The current news item is a weekly column of ‘The Tribune’ (Newspaper) in which the renowned and famous scientist Prof. Yash Pal answers the queries of the readers. He has informed that for the next fifty years, there is no object moving towards the earth for collision and there seems no truth in such types of news appearing in news, television, internet etc. Yesterday Indian news channels like Zee News & Star News were also educating the people against the propaganda that earth will completely abolish in December 2012. There are no evidence to believe such type of news and people should realize that no such destruction is likely to happen in near future. When these days, science has developed tremendously and is capable to foresee for next many years, such type of superstitions are only predicted to make money by befooling the common man.

LOW INFLATION; HIGH PRICES

Recent post carries views of different people of society on sky rocketing prices of common items and also one editorial of Punjab Kesari and both the news items opines that the price rise is due to the faulty policies as well as the immature statements of Central Govt. due to which the stockists are tend to make stocks of essential commodities and thus creating a fictitious scarcity of common use items. With this of course, the common man is facing lot of difficulty in meeting both ends meet and few business tycoons are making money with both hands which can be stopped if the Govt. takes initiatives seriously.

After the election in Haryana (2009) are over, the Congress has now claimed to form the government for next five years, but it has marginally short of six members. Out of a total of 90 members, any party would require at least 46 members to form the government but the Congress could manage to get only 40 seats and the second largest party i.e. Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) could manage only 31 seats and rest were gone to another parties/independents. Now both the parties are not in a position to form a stable govt. and the Governor called the congress to form the govt. being the largest party and it further managed to get the support of seven independent MLA’s to form the Govt.. On the other hand, INLD is also eager to form the Govt. and is looking for support of HJC as well as independents and this cartoon is showing that the Congress has formed the Govt. with the support of seven independents (where seven independents are lifting the CM chair) but on the other hand, INLD supremo is also calling the independents with goodies in his bag. It’s a good cartoon to show the managed unbalanced Govt. in Haryana

Why hoardings of essential commodities

Every time, Hon'ble agriculture minister come up with a new statement, the hordings of essential goods increases. On 31st July, with a statement that "due to reduction of agriculture base for produce of sugarcane, the production of sugar will reduce to 1.60 crores tones as compared to 2.25 croroes tones in last year", the prices of sugar were shootup immediately and large business houses kept tones of stock of sugar to sell it in open market during the festive season. And after that again the similar type of statement for rice has come from the same source. Most likely, the prices of rice may also shootup due to illegal hoardings by the large business houses as well as dealers. However, during the time of Smt. Indira Gandhi, only one statement that the sugar will soon be imported from China, the hoarders released their stocks and prices were reduced. Instead of releasing the statements which tends to increase the prices of essential commodites, we should learn from the past to release such statements, which may ease the situation.
